Ancient Israel Roman Glass & Sterling Cross Necklace

$ 74.99

This Ancient Roman Glass Necklace features a cross made of oxidized sterling silver that measures 43mm (a little over 1-1/2") x 28mm, and is centered with a 12mm x 7mm piece of 2,000 year old Roman glass. It hangs from an 18" sterling silver necklace with a spring ring closure. Each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. As each piece is unique, please allow for a variance in the color of the glass.

The glass oval, more than 2,000 years old, was made during a time in history where the Roman Empire started a new glass blowing technique that was used to make a variety of glassware.

One of the treasures of Israeli archaeology is the large amount of Roman glass shards that are constantly being dug up, and to preserve these pretty pieces from the past, they are being made into unique pieces of jewelry. The centuries of contact with the soil give the glass a uniquely iridescent patina that makes it a perfect material for necklaces, earrings and rings.
